Mumbai Daily Snapshot Again (After Five Years)

It's over five years that I posted a photo of Mumbai on this dailyphotoblog. Soon after featuring in Sunday Read in the Mumbai Mirror, challenges like no access to a good internet connection, hard disk crash, breakdown of my Sony Cybershot were a bit too much to handle, followed by my father's untimely death in 2009.

Now, equipped with my new Sony Vaio and Canon Ixus 130 - my favorite companions, and multiple internet options, its time to move on. Even papa would have wanted us to go on and make him proud.

I thank all readers for coming back time and again and making me feel left out from the world of photobloggers. Its been very long, but nevertheless MDS makes a comeback in Dec 2014 (not Jan 2013) and will be posting one photo a day. Thank you dear friends and readers for standing by me. Do come back to MDS to get a glimpse of Mumbai life.

Mumabi Metro Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopapar (VAG)

This is the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar (VAG) metro construction ongoing on Versova road in Andheri West. The pillars and staircases have blocked entrances to many restaurants, shops in this stretch, also blocking building gates, breaking down compound boundary walls. Most of these buildings are more than 25 years old, and there is speculation about how the buildings will react to the vibration once the Metro line is operational here.
What do you have to say about the Mumbai Metro (VAG)?

Rickshaw Stand

Now its easy for commuters to spot a rickshaw stand from a distance, especially if they are new to the area. These signs have been installed all over Navi Mumbai at all rickshaw stands, and should be seen in Mumbai too, very soon.
Till now, many rickshaw stands had no sign, and could be identified as rickshaw stand, only because we know it's there, or because we see a number of autorickshaws queued up there.
This stand is right opposite Millennium Towers, Sanpada which alone has a residential population of over 5000 people.

Skywatch Friday Season 6, Week 9

These amazing cottony clouds against the blue sky were seen in Mumbai after two days of heavy rains. It was a rare and welcome sight, as the clouds are usually dark and angrylooking in the monsoon.
