Train Ads

Advertisements on Mumbai Local trains have become very common nowadays.

Ads like this one 'A TV soap about shaadi- marriage, sasural - home after marriage, usually a joint family, sasumaa -mom in law' are best advertised on Ladies compartments, and increase the TRP of TV soaps. As soon as women passengers see a train like this, they begin to discuss the storyline and lo --the soap is soon popular.

This one 'Mera Sasural' is on all the compartments of the train.

Mumbai Metro

Work for Phase 1 of Mumbai Metro Rail Project Mass Rapid Transit has finally begun. This photo is right outside my mom's place on Versova Road. The first 11 km route of the Mumbai metro will be between Versova and Ghatkopar, all stations elevated, connecting the East to the West.

Anil Dhirubhai Ambani's Reliance Energy has bagged the project. Talks are on with major rolling stock builders like Alstom (France), Siemens (Germany) and Bombardier, which have produced vehicles for metro systems all over the world.

This section on Versova road is in the middle of the road, and obviously causing traffic problems. You can see the 7 Bunglow Bus Depot Mall in the photo. Also, a large number of traders at the Andheri market will have to be relocated to give way to the project. Promises are many. We have to wait and watch if they are implemented.

More from Mahabaleshwar later

There's more to Sherbaug and Mahabaleshwar - Venna Lake, Strawberry farms...

But later, now it's high time MDS has a post on the city itself.

Charpayee & Fireplace

We spent a while sitting here and exploring around, but didn't really light up a fire. But the charpayees were a very comfortable experience. It reminded me of eating at 'Punjabi Dhabas'.

Sherbaug Waterfall

Sherbaug boasts of beautiful waterfalls, and it doesn't seem at all that they are artificially created.

Sherbaug

Sherbaug is a nature lover's paradise. An absolutely beautiful theme park. You need atleast 90minutes to walk around leisurely. The tree houses and hammocks are an attraction for children.
Acres of land landscaped with great care, there are thousands of different flora here.

A couple of beautiful waterfalls, greenhouse for cactii, a barefoot garden, caves, an exciting blue water stream through which one can walk into the park make it an unforgettable experience. There are signs and quotes about nature put up everywhere.

Sherbaug is an experience for the soul.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get many pics here as Krrish was fast asleep in my arms, almost till we were out. Take a look at the breathtaking pics on the site to know about the heaven I'm writing about.

Mapro Garden

The Mapro Garden is on the way to Panchgani from Mahabaleshwar. It is a popular halt for having snacks, strawberry milkshakes and icecreams and carrrying home strawberry jam (with real strawberries in it) and many other flavoured jams, crushes, squashes, syrups and jellies.

Also, fresh strawberries are sold across the sales counter. The snack bar, ice-cream parlour and the sales counter make it a must-halt. The 'Fresh strawberry with Cream and Icecream' is the best I've ever tasted. Visitors can taste all the products before buying them.

Visitors are invited for a 15 minute guided factory visit right here, to see how jams and squashes are made.

The Mapro Garden is full of beautiful flowers all around the place. One can easily spend a couple of hours here, and still craving to come back for more. There are signs all along the road from Mahabaleshwar, so you can't miss this one.

Kates Point 6

This is the Elephant's Head. As you can see, the extended portion of the rock looks like an elephant's head and trunk. It is also called the Needle Hole, as the gap looks like the needle hole.
If you look carefully, it is a view of Kates point.

Kates Point 5

A camel ride at Kates point is exciiting but for the daring. You will be taken around to see Lodwick Point, Elephant's Head and Needle's Hole.

Kates Point 3

One must not miss horse riding at Kates Point. I simply loved the horses. In contrast to the horses we see in Mumbai used for Weddings, rides at the beach and other places, these horses are clean, well-fed and taken care of. A boatman told us that each horse owner makes a handsome amount of about Rs. 1000 per day, so he doesn't mind spending a couple of hundreds on the horse everyday.

Kates Point 2

I apologise to the dailyphotoblog group and all readers of mumbaidailysnapshot for not being able to post the theme photo. I wanted to cancel my blog name on the portal but could not locate the link.

Kates Point gives a breathtaking view of the Krishna Valley and the waters of the Dhom dam.
